Volunteer/Serv Safe Coordinator

The Good Samaritan Center of Excelsior Springs is currently seeking to fill the following position. Please complete online application below and attach Letter of Interest and Resume.

Volunteer/Serv Safe Coordinator

$9.00 x 18 hours per week

Mission Statement: Dedicated to preventing homelessness and hunger by providing basic life needs and access of life skills.

Job will include but is not limited to…
• The SSC will get their Food Handler Managers & Serv Safe Certification from the Clay County Health Department within 60 days of hire date (paid for by GSC)
• Rotate and stock food in the downstairs storage rooms according to Clay County Health Department Code Regulations and MO Code & Regulation (CSR)
• Record temperatures of refrigerators and freezers in the pantry as well as the Commodities room
• Assess the pantry needs/inventory and communicate to the EA coordinator about orders from Harvesters
• Accept any incoming food donations, weighs and records the donation. ALL incoming nonperishable food items are to go downstairs into the storage rooms, NO EXCEPTIONS
• Build Produce/Meat boxes in the walk-in freezer to be distributed to clients

Job may require…
• Driving the box truck to pick up donations IF necessary
• Lifting boxes up to 60 pounds
• Oversee the scheduling for pantry volunteers and arranges food pickups
• Filling out the vault calendar on a monthly basis

Typical SSC week would look like:
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Monday – Stock “on deck” room and bottom storage rooms
Wednesday – Stock pantry and rotate
Friday – Correct freezer rotation from the week’s incoming food, rotate stock and stock the standup freezers from food “on deck”

Minimum Work Experience:
• Rotation of stock
• Counting inventory of stock
• Scheduling and Task management
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to remain positive during stressful situations
